Scenic Journeys to the Scenic Johannesburg

Johannesburg is a major tourist destination and attracts millions of tourists from around the world. Also, it is the metropolitan hub of the whole of Africa. This makes influx into Johannesburg grow larger by the day.

Johannesburg-South-Africa

The 40th largest metropolitan city of the world has made many arrangements to not only bring in tourists but also to make their journey, a scenic one. Tourists can travel to Johannesburg by plane, train, bus or a car.

Airplanes:

For travelers from outside Africa, planes are the only choice. Johannesburg’s main airport, O. R. Tambo International Airport (ORTIA), is the busiest airport in Africa and is also, according to many, one of the world’s most beautiful. Despite being a busy one, the airport is highly efficient and handles all domestic as well as international flights to and from the airport equally well. There are many cheap flights to Johannesburg from almost all major cities around the world especially London.

The airport is about 24km from the city center and has all the facilities for passengers from accommodation to car hire for getting around in the city. There are many car hire companies in Johannesburg. These include the world famous; Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz and many other smaller companies. All the hiring companies have their offices right at ORTIA for the visitors’ ease and the collections desk at the same. Taxis and bus shuttles are also available.

Lanseria Airport is a privately owned airport serving the city. It is more commercial airline oriented, mainly used for transporting diplomats and corporate and regional class. The airport, however, operates normal flights to Cape Town.

Train:

Johannesburg offers some scenic train journeys for travelers from an African or maybe South African city. The city has beautiful, newly developed or upgraded, stations. Park Station is one such lavish station situated right in the middle of the city that links Johannesburg to its four major streets towards north, south, east and west.

Safe yet luxurious, Spoornet trains are a very good choice. They connect Johannesburg to other major South African cities like Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban. These trains have luxurious to normally comfortable compartments. The coupe compartments are for two or four persons while others are for more. Theones for two persons can be used as bedrooms at night. They also have a room service under which the travelers are delivered food at their room. The others, although not as luxurious as the coupe, are also very comfortable with seats that can easily recline. They also have the dinning car which serves food.

The MetroRail trains are a comfortable and safe way to travel to suburbs around Johannesburg.

Bus:

Traveling in bus to or around Johannesburg is another great experience. The picturesque journeys keep the travelers occupied. Metro Bus Services is a tourists’ choice. Other good choices include Greyhound, which caters to destinations all over South Africa, and S.A Roadlink that travels to and from major South African cities. Translux serves many South African cities and some African countries. The Baz Bus is a good choice for adventure tourists.

Car:

Johannesburg can be easily reached through car. Many highways are routed towards the city from many other South African cities and African countries. This makes the city an accessible one.

GAGA i think you should travel to Cape Town via airplane. As Zimbabwe is bordered with South Africa so Car is also not a bad idea but if your take a car then there is always little bit chance to face any sort of difficulty. So avoid car and book your Cape Town flights.
